About Alaska Crafter

Hi- I'm Tanna- a lot of people call me TP (not a reference to you-know-what, it's my initials- get your head out of the gutter!). I am addicted to craft and am a born and bred Alaskan (except for a few years of school and travel and whatnot in what I like to call the "real world"), hence the creation of Alaska Crafter.

What do I craft you ask?  Well, it might be easier to ask what I do not craft, because I'll try any kind of craft at least once! My dedication to craft (read obsession) led me to write about it for the local weekly paper, the Capital City Weekly and then for the daily, the Juneau Empire.  Check them out!  They're both chock full of delicious Alaskan goodies!

I started my craft career at the young and tender age of "Brownie"- I think I was about 6 or so when my mom took me to Girl Scouts for the first time and I was hooked.  From towel aprons, to campfire building, sand candles and camping, we did it all.

Years later as I went through college and was listlessly pursing acting (yeah right!) I began to work in the paint and props shops.  Then I stumbled into the scene shop and was hooked.  And if you didn't know it, a scene shop and props shop has everything to do with getting crafty.  I mean, how else do you invent  a chair that flips over, comes apart, and squirts blood all at the same time.  Awesome.

So I took the next step and got a masters of fine arts in Set Design, which was fun, and hard. really. hard. Since then I've been putting it all to use in a hodge-podge of set design, window display design, interior design, graphic design (my mainstay nowadays), crafting, craft writing and as my fiancé likes to say, anything anyone will pay me to do (uh, well, not anything).

I think that about sums it up.  Oh, and I'm really loud.  Not on purpose, I was born that way.
And thank you for stopping by and reading all the way down here!  Wow, impressive, I should give you a treat for that . . . hmmmm, okay, go here: secret link.  There's your treat! Mwah!
